Mr. Wieties writes: "I am a Squad Leader in the US Army Infantry that was deployed to Afghanistan earlier this summer. We are currently in an area known as the Arghandab River District, a place with a very challenging environment, one that I could describe as a cross between Death Valley and Vietnam. Half of our area of operations is covered in mountains where the heat peaks at around 130 degrees with very little overcast and the other half is an oasis of gardens, canals, and elephant grass with a daily humidity of 100%. After three months here, I have seen our standard green socks wear away and do more harm then good causing blisters and athletes foot which overall causes problems for future dismounted operations. I have used your products before and have always been amazed at the comfort and design of your socks, and think that they could really do a lot of good over here for my soldiers, which is why I'm applying for your Socks for Soldiers program. I really appreciate your patriotism and support, it means a lot to us over here and thank you again for taking the time to read my application."
