Fox River, maker of the famous Original Rockford Red Heel® Monkey Sock and premium performance socks, has turned picturesque town of Osage, Iowa into a red-heeled destination the first weekend in October with its family-friendly festival. The event is anchored by its Annual Benefit Sock Sale, but also features a 5K run/walk and a 10K run on Saturday and a Sunday omelet breakfast hosted by the Osage Fire Department. The sock sale benefits local service organizations, including the Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions Club to help support community programs, facilities and events the clubs manage throughout the year.
On Saturday, October 3rd, participants will put on their FoxSox performance socks and run or walk 5K or 10K in the fifth annual Red Heel Run. Online registration for the 5k and 10K Red Heel Run is due October 2 at 3pm for runners to reserve their free Fox River performance socks and coupons for further discounts at the sale. Same-day sign-up will be accepted. Visit facebook.com/redheelrun to learn more about the Red Heel Run.
Registration for the Red Heel 5K Run is $20; for the 10K run, it’s $25. Students 18 and younger get a $5 discount. Prices increase $5 after 9/13/2015. Runners receive a free pair of FoxSox and a $5 discount on a purchase of $20 or more at the sock sale, and a Red Heel Run t-shirt (if registered by 9/13/15). You can register ONLINE here.
Also new this year: a portion of all registration fees will be donated to the Iowa Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.
